U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has announced plans to at least double buybacks of Treasury securities originally issued with maturities between 10 and 30 years. The strategy is aimed at easing pressure on the long end of the bond market and improving liquidity as U.S. financing requirements continue to grow.
The Dollar Index slipped to around 99.5 as a sharp yen rally and speculation over a possible rate check or intervention pressured the greenback.
